उत्सूर्यो बृहदर्चींष्यश्रेत्पुरु विश्वा जनिम मानुषाणाम्। समो दिवा ददृशे रोचमानः क्रत्वा कृतः सुकृतः कर्तृभिर्भूत्॥
Transliterationutsūryo bṛhadarcīṁṣyaśretpuru viśvā janima mānuṣāṇām | samo divā dadṛśe rocamānaḥ kratvā kṛtaḥ sukṛtaḥ kartṛbhirbhūt ||
TranslationSURYA hath sent aloft his beams of splendour o'er all the tribes of men in countless places. Together with the heaven he shines apparent, formed by his Makers well with power and wisdom.

Transliterationsa sūrya prati puro na udgā ebhiḥ stomebhiretaśebhirevaiḥ | pra no mitrāya varuṇāya voco'nāgaso aryamṇe agnaye ca ||
TranslationSo hast thou mounted up before us, Surya, through these our praises, with fleet dappled horses. Declare us free from all offence to Mitra, and Varuna, and Aryaman, and Agni.

Transliterationvi naḥ sahasraṁ śurudho radantvṛtāvāno varuṇo mitro agniḥ | yacchantu candrā upamaṁ no arkamā naḥ kāmaṁ pūpurantu stavānāḥ ||
TranslationMay holy Agni, Varuna, and Mitra send down their riches upon us in thousands. May they, the Bright Ones, make our praise-song perfect, and, when we laud them, grant us all our wishes.

Transliterationdyāvābhūmī adite trāsīthāṁ no ye vāṁ jajñuḥ sujanimāna ṛṣve | mā heḻe bhūma varuṇasya vāyormā mitrasya priyatamasya nṛṇām ||
TranslationO undivided Heaven and Earth, preserve us, us, Lofty Ones! your nobIy-born descendants. Let us not anger Varuna, nor Vayu, nor him, the dearest Friend of mortals, Mitra.

Transliterationpra bāhavā sisṛtaṁ jīvase na ā no gavyūtimukṣataṁ ghṛtena | ā no jane śravayataṁ yuvānā śrutaṁ me mitrāvaruṇā havemā ||
TranslationStretch forth your arms and let our lives be lengthened: with fatness dew the pastures of our cattle. Ye Youthful, make us famed among the people: hear, Mitra-Varuna, these mine invocations.

Transliterationnū mitro varuṇo aryamā nastmane tokāya varivo dadhantu | sugā no viśvā supathāni santu yūyaṁ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||
TranslationNow Mitra, Varuna, Aryaman vouchsafe us freedom and room, for us and for our children. May we find paths all fair and good to travel. Preserve us evermore, ye Gods, with blessings.
