पृक्षस्य वृष्णो अरुषस्य नू सहः प्र नु वोचं विदथा जातवेदसः। वैश्वानराय मतिर्नव्यसी शुचिः सोम इव पवते चारुरग्नये॥

Transliteration

pṛkṣasya vṛṣṇo aruṣasya nū sahaḥ pra nu vocaṁ vidathā jātavedasaḥ | vaiśvānarāya matirnavyasī śuciḥ soma iva pavate cāruragnaye ||

Translation

AT Jatavedas' holy gathering I will tell aloud the conquering might of the swift red-hued Steer. A pure and fresher hymn flows to Vaisvanara, even as for Agni lovely Soma is made pure.

स जायमानः परमे व्योमनि व्रतान्यग्निर्व्रतपा अरक्षत। व्यन्तरिक्षममिमीत सुक्रतुर्वैश्वानरो महिना नाकमस्पृशत्॥

Transliteration

sa jāyamānaḥ parame vyomani vratānyagnirvratapā arakṣata | vyantarikṣamamimīta sukraturvaiśvānaro mahinā nākamaspṛśat ||

Translation

That Agni, when in loftiest heaven he sprang to life, Guardian of Holy Laws, kept and observed them well. Exceeding wise, he measured out the firmament. Vaisvanara attained to heaven by mightiness.

व्यस्तभ्नाद्रोदसी मित्रो अद्भुतोऽन्तर्वावदकृणोज्ज्योतिषा तमः। वि चर्मणीव धिषणे अवर्तयद्वैश्वानरो विश्वमधत्त वृष्ण्यम्॥

Transliteration

vyastabhnādrodasī mitro adbhuto'ntarvāvadakṛṇojjyotiṣā tamaḥ | vi carmaṇīva dhiṣaṇe avartayadvaiśvānaro viśvamadhatta vṛṣṇyam ||

Translation

Wonderful Mitra propped the heaven and earth apart, and covered and concealed the darkness with his light. He made the two bowls part asunder like two skins. Vaisvanara put forth all his creative power.

अपामुपस्थे महिषा अगृभ्णत विशो राजानमुप तस्थुरृग्मियम्। आ दूतो अग्निमभरद्विवस्वतो वैश्वानरं मातरिश्वा परावतः॥

Transliteration

apāmupasthe mahiṣā agṛbhṇata viśo rājānamupa tasthurṛgmiyam | ā dūto agnimabharadvivasvato vaiśvānaraṁ mātariśvā parāvataḥ ||

Translation

The Migbty seized him in the bosom of the floods: the people waited on the King who should be praised. As envoy of Vivasvan MatariSvan brought Agni Vaisvanara hither from far away.

युगेयुगे विदथ्यं गृणद्भ्योऽग्ने रयिं यशसं धेहि नव्यसीम्। पव्येव राजन्नघशंसमजर नीचा नि वृश्च वनिनं न तेजसा॥

Transliteration

yugeyuge vidathyaṁ gṛṇadbhyo'gne rayiṁ yaśasaṁ dhehi navyasīm | pavyeva rājannaghaśaṁsamajara nīcā ni vṛśca vaninaṁ na tejasā ||

Translation

In every age bestow upon the singers wealth, worthy of holy synods, glorious, ever new. King, undecaying, as it were with sharpened bolt, smite down the sinner like a tree with lightning- flash.

अस्माकमग्ने मघवत्सु धारयानामि क्षत्रमजरं सुवीर्यम्। वयं जयेम शतिनं सहस्रिणं वैश्वानर वाजमग्ने तवोतिभिः॥

Transliteration

asmākamagne maghavatsu dhārayānāmi kṣatramajaraṁ suvīryam | vayaṁ jayema śatinaṁ sahasriṇaṁ vaiśvānara vājamagne tavotibhiḥ ||

Translation

Do thou bestow, O Agni, on our wealthy chiefs, rule, with good heroes, undecaying, bending not. So may we win for us strength. O Vaisvanara, hundredfold, thousandfold, O Agni, by thy help.

अदब्धेभिस्तव गोपाभिरिष्टेऽस्माकं पाहि त्रिषधस्थ सूरीन्। रक्षा च नो ददुषां शर्धो अग्ने वैश्वानर प्र च तारीः स्तवानः॥

Transliteration

adabdhebhistava gopābhiriṣṭe'smākaṁ pāhi triṣadhastha sūrīn | rakṣā ca no daduṣāṁ śardho agne vaiśvānara pra ca tārīḥ stavānaḥ ||

Translation

O thou who dwellest in three places, Helper, keep with effective guards our princely patrons. Keep our band, Agni, who have brought thee presents. Lengthen their lives, Vaisvanara, when lauded.
