शास इत्था महाँ अस्यमित्रखादो अद्भुतः। न यस्य हन्यते सखा न जीयते कदा चन॥

Transliteration

śāsa itthā mahā asyamitrakhādo adbhutaḥ | na yasya hanyate sakhā na jīyate kadā cana ||

Translation

A MIGHTY Governor art thou, Wondrous, Destroyer of the foe, Whose friend is never done to death, and never, never overcome.

स्वस्तिदा विशस्पतिर्वृत्रहा विमृधो वशी। वृषेन्द्रः पुर एतु नः सोमपा अभयंकरः॥

Transliteration

svastidā viśaspatirvṛtrahā vimṛdho vaśī | vṛṣendraḥ pura etu naḥ somapā abhayaṁkaraḥ ||

Translation

Lord of the clan, who brings us bliss, Strong, Warrior, Slayer of the fiend, May India, Soma-drinker, go before us, Bull who gives us peace.

वि रक्षो वि मृधो जहि वि वृत्रस्य हनू रुज। वि मन्युमिन्द्र वृत्रहन्नमित्रस्याभिदासतः॥

Transliteration

vi rakṣo vi mṛdho jahi vi vṛtrasya hanū ruja | vi manyumindra vṛtrahannamitrasyābhidāsataḥ ||

Translation

Drive Raksasas and foes away, break thou in pieces Vrtra'sjaws: O Vrtra-slaying Indra, quell the foeman's wrath who threatens us.

वि न इन्द्र मृधो जहि नीचा यच्छ पृतन्यतः। यो अस्माँ अभिदासत्यधरं गमया तमः॥

Transliteration

vi na indra mṛdho jahi nīcā yaccha pṛtanyataḥ | yo asmā abhidāsatyadharaṁ gamayā tamaḥ ||

Translation

O Indra, beat our foes away, humble the men who challenge us: Send down to nether darkness him who seeks to do us injury.

अपेन्द्र द्विषतो मनोऽप जिज्यासतो वधम्। वि मन्योः शर्म यच्छ वरीयो यवया वधम्॥

Transliteration

apendra dviṣato mano'pa jijyāsato vadham | vi manyoḥ śarma yaccha varīyo yavayā vadham ||

Translation

Baffle the foeman's plan, ward off his weapon who would conquer us. Give shelter from his furious wrath, and keep his murdering dart afar.
