Sukta 82

तत्सवितुर्वृणीमहे वयं देवस्य भोजनम्। श्रेष्ठं सर्वधातमं तुरं भगस्य धीमहि॥

tatsaviturvṛṇīmahe vayaṁ devasya bhojanam | śreṣṭhaṁ sarvadhātamaṁ turaṁ bhagasya dhīmahi ||

WE crave of Savitar the God this treasure much to be enjoyed. The best, all-yielding, conquering gift of Bhaga we would gladly win.

अस्य हि स्वयशस्तरं सवितुः कच्चन प्रियम्। न मिनन्ति स्वराज्यम्॥

asya hi svayaśastaraṁ savituḥ kaccana priyam | na minanti svarājyam ||

Savitar's own supremacy, most glorious and beloved of all, No one diminisheth in aught.

स हि रत्नानि दाशुषे सुवाति सविता भगः। तं भागं चित्रमीमहे॥

sa hi ratnāni dāśuṣe suvāti savitā bhagaḥ | taṁ bhāgaṁ citramīmahe ||

For Savitar who is Bhaga shall send riches to his worshipper. That wondrous portion we implore.

अद्या नो देव सवितः प्रजावत्सावीः सौभगम्। परा दुष्ष्वप्न्यं सुव॥

adyā no deva savitaḥ prajāvatsāvīḥ saubhagam | parā duṣṣvapnyaṁ suva ||

Send us this day, God Savitar, prosperity with progeny. Drive thou the evil dream away.

विश्वानि देव सवितर्दुरितानि परा सुव। यद्भद्रं तन्न आ सुव॥

viśvāni deva savitarduritāni parā suva | yadbhadraṁ tanna ā suva ||

Savitar, God, send far away all sorrows and calamities, And send us only what is good.

अनागसो अदितये देवस्य सवितुः सवे। विश्वा वामानि धीमहि॥

anāgaso aditaye devasya savituḥ save | viśvā vāmāni dhīmahi ||

Sinless in sight of Aditi through the God Savitar's influence, May we obtain all lovely things.

आ विश्वदेवं सत्पतिं सूक्तैरद्या वृणीमहे। सत्यसवं सवितारम्॥

ā viśvadevaṁ satpatiṁ sūktairadyā vṛṇīmahe | satyasavaṁ savitāram ||

We with our hymns this day elect the general God, Lord of the good, Savitar whose decrees are true.

य इमे उभे अहनी पुर एत्यप्रयुच्छन्। स्वाधीर्देवः सविता॥

ya ime ubhe ahanī pura etyaprayucchan | svādhīrdevaḥ savitā ||

He who for ever vigilant precedes these Twain, the Day and Night, Is Savitar the thoughtful God.

य इमा विश्वा जातान्याश्रावयति श्लोकेन। प्र च सुवाति सविता॥

ya imā viśvā jātānyāśrāvayati ślokena | pra ca suvāti savitā ||

He who gives glory unto all these living creatures with the song, And brings them forth, is Savitar.
