बळित्था देव निष्कृतमादित्या यजतं बृहत्। वरुण मित्रार्यमन्वर्षिष्ठं क्षत्रमाशाथे॥

Transliteration

baḻitthā deva niṣkṛtamādityā yajataṁ bṛhat | varuṇa mitrāryamanvarṣiṣṭhaṁ kṣatramāśāthe ||

Translation

YE Gods, Adityas, Varuna, Aryaman, Mitra, verily Have here obtained supremest sway, high, holy, set apart for you.

आ यद्योनिं हिरण्ययं वरुण मित्र सदथः। धर्तारा चर्षणीनां यन्तं सुम्नं रिशादसा॥

Transliteration

ā yadyoniṁ hiraṇyayaṁ varuṇa mitra sadathaḥ | dhartārā carṣaṇīnāṁ yantaṁ sumnaṁ riśādasā ||

Translation

When, Varuna and Mitra, ye sit in your golden dwelling-place, Ye Twain, supporters of mankind, foeslayers, give felicity.

विश्वे हि विश्ववेदसो वरुणो मित्रो अर्यमा। व्रता पदेव सश्चिरे पान्ति मर्त्यं रिषः॥

Transliteration

viśve hi viśvavedaso varuṇo mitro aryamā | vratā padeva saścire pānti martyaṁ riṣaḥ ||

Translation

All these, possessors of all wealth, Varuna, Mitra, Aryaman, Follow their ways, as if with feet, and guard from injury mortal man.

ते हि सत्या ऋतस्पृश ऋतावानो जनेजने। सुनीथासः सुदानवोंऽहोश्चिदुरुचक्रयः॥

Transliteration

te hi satyā ṛtaspṛśa ṛtāvāno janejane | sunīthāsaḥ sudānavoṁ'hościdurucakrayaḥ ||

Translation

For they are true, they cleave to Law, held holy among every race, Good leaders, bounteous in their gifts, deliverers even from distress.

को नु वां मित्रास्तुतो वरुणो वा तनूनाम्। तत्सु वामेषते मतिरत्रिभ्य एषते मतिः॥

Transliteration

ko nu vāṁ mitrāstuto varuṇo vā tanūnām | tatsu vāmeṣate matiratribhya eṣate matiḥ ||

Translation

Which of your persons, Varuna or Mitra, merits not our praise? Therefore our thought is turned to you, the Atris' thought is turned to you.
