तं वः सखायो मदाय पुनानमभि गायत। शिशुं न यज्ञैः स्वदयन्त गूर्तिभिः॥

Transliteration

taṁ vaḥ sakhāyo madāya punānamabhi gāyata | śiśuṁ na yajñaiḥ svadayanta gūrtibhiḥ ||

Translation

SING; ye aloud, O friends, to him who makes him pure for gladdening drink: They shall make sweet the Child with sacrifice and laud.

सं वत्स इव मातृभिरिन्दुर्हिन्वानो अज्यते। देवावीर्मदो मतिभिः परिष्कृतः॥

Transliteration

saṁ vatsa iva mātṛbhirindurhinvāno ajyate | devāvīrmado matibhiḥ pariṣkṛtaḥ ||

Translation

Like as a calf with mother cows, so Indu is urged forth and sent, Glorified by our hymns, the God-delighting juice.

अयं दक्षाय साधनोऽयं शर्धाय वीतये। अयं देवेभ्यो मधुमत्तमः सुतः॥

Transliteration

ayaṁ dakṣāya sādhano'yaṁ śardhāya vītaye | ayaṁ devebhyo madhumattamaḥ sutaḥ ||

Translation

Effectual means of power is he, he is a banquet for the Troop, He who hath been effused, most rich in meath, for Gods.

गोमन्न इन्दो अश्ववत्सुतः सुदक्ष धन्व। शुचिं ते वर्णमधि गोषु दीधरम्॥

Transliteration

gomanna indo aśvavatsutaḥ sudakṣa dhanva | śuciṁ te varṇamadhi goṣu dīdharam ||

Translation

Flow to us, Indu, passing, strong, effused, with wealth of kine and steeds: I will spread forth above the milk thy radiant hue.

स नो हरीणां पत इन्दो देवप्सरस्तमः। सखेव सख्ये नर्यो रुचे भव॥

Transliteration

sa no harīṇāṁ pata indo devapsarastamaḥ | sakheva sakhye naryo ruce bhava ||

Translation

Lord of the tawny, Indu thou who art the God's most special food, As Friend to friend, for splendour be thou good to men.

Transliteration

sanemi tvamasmadā adevaṁ kaṁ cidatriṇam | sāhvā indo pari bādho apa dvayum ||

Translation

Drive utterly, far away from us each godless, each voracious foe. O Indu, overcome and drive the false afar.
