इन्द्राग्नी युवं सु नः सहन्ता दासथो रयिम्। येन दृळ्हा समत्स्वा वीळु चित्साहिषीमह्यग्निर्वनेव वात इन्नभन्तामन्यके समे॥

Transliteration

indrāgnī yuvaṁ su naḥ sahantā dāsatho rayim | yena dṛḻhā samatsvā vīḻu citsāhiṣīmahyagnirvaneva vāta innabhantāmanyake same ||

Translation

INDRA and Agni, surely ye as Conquerors will give us wealth, Whereby in fight we may o'ercome that which is strong and firmly fixed, as Agni burns the woods with wind. Let all the others die away.

नहि वां वव्रयामहेऽथेन्द्रमिद्यजामहे शविष्ठं नृणां नरम्। स नः कदा चिदर्वता गमदा वाजसातये गमदा मेधसातये नभन्तामन्यके समे॥

Transliteration

nahi vāṁ vavrayāmahe'thendramidyajāmahe śaviṣṭhaṁ nṛṇāṁ naram | sa naḥ kadā cidarvatā gamadā vājasātaye gamadā medhasātaye nabhantāmanyake same ||

Translation

We set no snares to tangle you; Indra we worship and adore, Hero of heroes mightiest. Once may he come unto us with his Steed, come unto us to win us strength, and to complete the sacrifice.

ता हि मध्यं भराणामिन्द्राग्नी अधिक्षितः। ता उ कवित्वना कवी पृच्छ्यमाना सखीयते सं धीतमश्नुतं नरा नभन्तामन्यके समे॥

Transliteration

tā hi madhyaṁ bharāṇāmindrāgnī adhikṣitaḥ | tā u kavitvanā kavī pṛcchyamānā sakhīyate saṁ dhītamaśnutaṁ narā nabhantāmanyake same ||

Translation

For, famous Indra-Agni, ye are dwellers in the midst of frays. Sages in wisdom, ye are knit to him who seeketh you as friends. Heroes, bestow on him his wish.

अभ्यर्च नभाकवदिन्द्राग्नी यजसा गिरा। ययोर्विश्वमिदं जगदियं द्यौः पृथिवी मह्युपस्थे बिभृतो वसु नभन्तामन्यके समे॥

Transliteration

abhyarca nabhākavadindrāgnī yajasā girā | yayorviśvamidaṁ jagadiyaṁ dyauḥ pṛthivī mahyupasthe bibhṛto vasu nabhantāmanyake same ||

Translation

Nabhaka-like, with sacred song Indra's and Agni's praise I sing, Theirs to whom all this world belongs, this heaven and this mighty earth which bear rich treasure in their lap.

प्र ब्रह्माणि नभाकवदिन्द्राग्निभ्यामिरज्यत। या सप्तबुध्नमर्णवं जिह्मबारमपोर्णुत इन्द्र ईशान ओजसा नभन्तामन्यके समे॥

Transliteration

pra brahmāṇi nabhākavadindrāgnibhyāmirajyata | yā saptabudhnamarṇavaṁ jihmabāramaporṇuta indra īśāna ojasā nabhantāmanyake same ||

Translation

To Indra and to Agni send your prayers, as was Nabhaka's wont,- Who oped with sideway opening the sea with its foundations seven-Indra all powerful in his might.

अपि वृश्च पुराणवद्व्रततेरिव गुष्पितमोजो दासस्य दम्भय। वयं तदस्य सम्भृतं वस्विन्द्रेण वि भजेमहि नभन्तामन्यके समे॥

Transliteration

api vṛśca purāṇavadvratateriva guṣpitamojo dāsasya dambhaya | vayaṁ tadasya sambhṛtaṁ vasvindreṇa vi bhajemahi nabhantāmanyake same ||

Translation

Tear thou asunder, as of old, like tangles of a creeping plant, Demolish thou the Dasa's might. May we with Indra's help divide the treasure he hath gathered up.

यदिन्द्राग्नी जना इमे विह्वयन्ते तना गिरा। अस्माकेभिर्नृभिर्वयं सासह्याम पृतन्यतो वनुयाम वनुष्यतो नभन्तामन्यके समे॥

Transliteration

yadindrāgnī janā ime vihvayante tanā girā | asmākebhirnṛbhirvayaṁ sāsahyāma pṛtanyato vanuyāma vanuṣyato nabhantāmanyake same ||

Translation

What time with this same song these men call Indra-Agni sundry ways, May we with our own heroes quell those who provoke us to the fight, and conquer those who strive with us.

या नु श्वेताववो दिव उच्चरात उप द्युभिः। इन्द्राग्न्योरनु व्रतमुहाना यन्ति सिन्धवो यान्सीं बन्धादमुञ्चतां नभन्तामन्यके समे॥

Transliteration

yā nu śvetāvavo diva uccarāta upa dyubhiḥ | indrāgnyoranu vratamuhānā yanti sindhavo yānsīṁ bandhādamuñcatāṁ nabhantāmanyake same ||

Translation

The Two refulgent with their beams rise and come downward from the sky. By Indra's and by Agni's hest, flowing away, the rivers, run which they released from their restraint.

पूर्वीष्ट इन्द्रोपमातयः पूर्वीरुत प्रशस्तयः सूनो हिन्वस्य हरिवः। वस्वो वीरस्यापृचो या नु साधन्त नो धियो नभन्तामन्यके समे॥

Transliteration

pūrvīṣṭa indropamātayaḥ pūrvīruta praśastayaḥ sūno hinvasya harivaḥ | vasvo vīrasyāpṛco yā nu sādhanta no dhiyo nabhantāmanyake same ||

Translation

O Indra, many are thine aids, many thy ways of guiding us, Lord of the Bay Steeds, Hinva's Son. To a Good Hero come our prayers, which soon shall have accomplishment.

तं शिशीता सुवृक्तिभिस्त्वेषं सत्वानमृग्मियम्। उतो नु चिद्य ओजसा शुष्णस्याण्डानि भेदति जेषत्स्वर्वतीरपो नभन्तामन्यके समे॥

Transliteration

taṁ śiśītā suvṛktibhistveṣaṁ satvānamṛgmiyam | uto nu cidya ojasā śuṣṇasyāṇḍāni bhedati jeṣatsvarvatīrapo nabhantāmanyake same ||

Translation

Inspire him with your holy hymns, the Hero bright and glorious, Him who with might demolisbeth even the brood of Susna, and winneth for us the heavenly streams.

तं शिशीता स्वध्वरं सत्यं सत्वानमृत्वियम्। उतो नु चिद्य ओहत आण्डा शुष्णस्य भेदत्यजैः स्वर्वतीरपो नभन्तामन्यके समे॥

Transliteration

taṁ śiśītā svadhvaraṁ satyaṁ satvānamṛtviyam | uto nu cidya ohata āṇḍā śuṣṇasya bhedatyajaiḥ svarvatīrapo nabhantāmanyake same ||

Translation

Inspire him worshipped with fair rites, the glorious Hero truly brave. He brake in pieces Susna's brood who still expected not the stroke, and won for us the heavenly streams. Let all the others die away.

एवेन्द्राग्निभ्यां पितृवन्नवीयो मन्धातृवदङ्गिरस्वदवाचि। त्रिधातुना शर्मणा पातमस्मान्वयं स्याम पतयो रयीणाम्॥

Transliteration

evendrāgnibhyāṁ pitṛvannavīyo mandhātṛvadaṅgirasvadavāci | tridhātunā śarmaṇā pātamasmānvayaṁ syāma patayo rayīṇām ||

Translation

Thus have we sung anew to Indra-Agni, as sang our sires, Angirases, and Mandhatar. Guard us with triple shelter and preserve us: may we be masters of a store of riches.
