हुवे वो देवीमदितिं नमोभिर्मृळीकाय वरुणं मित्रमग्निम्। अभिक्षदामर्यमणं सुशेवं त्रातॄन्देवान्सवितारं भगं च॥

Transliteration

huve vo devīmaditiṁ namobhirmṛḻīkāya varuṇaṁ mitramagnim | abhikṣadāmaryamaṇaṁ suśevaṁ trātṝndevānsavitāraṁ bhagaṁ ca ||

Translation

I CALL with prayers on Aditi your Goddess, on Agni, Mitra, Varuna for favour, On Aryaman who gives unasked, the gracious, on Gods who save, on Savitar and Bhaga.

सुज्योतिषः सूर्य दक्षपितॄननागास्त्वे सुमहो वीहि देवान्। द्विजन्मानो य ऋतसापः सत्याः स्वर्वन्तो यजता अग्निजिह्वाः॥

Transliteration

sujyotiṣaḥ sūrya dakṣapitṝnanāgāstve sumaho vīhi devān | dvijanmāno ya ṛtasāpaḥ satyāḥ svarvanto yajatā agnijihvāḥ ||

Translation

Visit, to prove us free from sin, O Surya Lord of great might, the bright Gods sprung from Daksa, Twice-born and true, observing sacred duties, Holy and full of light, whose tongue is Agni.

उत द्यावापृथिवी क्षत्रमुरु बृहद्रोदसी शरणं सुषुम्ने। महस्करथो वरिवो यथा नोऽस्मे क्षयाय धिषणे अनेहः॥

Transliteration

uta dyāvāpṛthivī kṣatramuru bṛhadrodasī śaraṇaṁ suṣumne | mahaskaratho varivo yathā no'sme kṣayāya dhiṣaṇe anehaḥ ||

Translation

And, O ye Heaven and Earth, a wide dominion, O ye most blissful Worlds, our lofty shelter, Give ample room and freedom for our dwelling, a home, ye Hemispheres, which none may rival.

Transliteration

ā no rudrasya sūnavo namantāmadyā hūtāso vasavo'dhṛṣṭāḥ | yadīmarbhe mahati vā hitāso bādhe maruto ahvāma devān ||

Translation

This day invited may the Sons of Rudra, resistless, excellent, stoop down to meet us; For, when beset with slight or sore affliction, we ever call upon the Gods, the Maruts;

मिम्यक्ष येषु रोदसी नु देवी सिषक्ति पूषा अभ्यर्धयज्वा। श्रुत्वा हवं मरुतो यद्ध याथ भूमा रेजन्ते अध्वनि प्रविक्ते॥

Transliteration

mimyakṣa yeṣu rodasī nu devī siṣakti pūṣā abhyardhayajvā | śrutvā havaṁ maruto yaddha yātha bhūmā rejante adhvani pravikte ||

Translation

To whom the Goddess Rodasi clings closely, whom Pusan follows bringing ample bounty. What time ye hear our call and come, O Maruts, upon your separate path all creatures tremble.

अभि त्यं वीरं गिर्वणसमर्चेन्द्रं ब्रह्मणा जरितर्नवेन। श्रवदिद्धवमुप च स्तवानो रासद्वाजाँ उप महो गृणानः॥

Transliteration

abhi tyaṁ vīraṁ girvaṇasamarcendraṁ brahmaṇā jaritarnavena | śravadiddhavamupa ca stavāno rāsadvājā upa maho gṛṇānaḥ ||

Translation

With a new hymn extol, O thou who singest, the Lover of the Song, the Hero Indra. May he, exalted, hear our invocation, and grant us mighty wealth and strength when lauded.

ओमानमापो मानुषीरमृक्तं धात तोकाय तनयाय शं योः। यूयं हि ष्ठा भिषजो मातृतमा विश्वस्य स्थातुर्जगतो जनित्रीः॥

Transliteration

omānamāpo mānuṣīramṛktaṁ dhāta tokāya tanayāya śaṁ yoḥ | yūyaṁ hi ṣṭhā bhiṣajo mātṛtamā viśvasya sthāturjagato janitrīḥ ||

Translation

Give full protection, Friends of man, ye Waters, in peace and trouble, to our sons and grandsons. For ye are our most motherly physicians, parents of all that standeth, all that moveth.

Transliteration

ā no devaḥ savitā trāyamāṇo hiraṇyapāṇiryajato jagamyāt | yo datravā uṣaso na pratīkaṁ vyūrṇute dāśuṣe vāryāṇi ||

Translation

May Savitar come hither and approach us, the God who rescues, Holy, goldenhanded, The God who, bounteous as the face of Morning, discloses precious gifts for him who worships.

उत त्वं सूनो सहसो नो अद्या देवाँ अस्मिन्नध्वरे ववृत्याः। स्यामहं ते सदमिद्रातौ तव स्यामग्नेऽवसा सुवीरः॥

Transliteration

uta tvaṁ sūno sahaso no adyā devā asminnadhvare vavṛtyāḥ | syāmahaṁ te sadamidrātau tava syāmagne'vasā suvīraḥ ||

Translation

And thou, O Son of Strength, do thou turn hither the Gods to-day to this our holy service. May I for evermore enjoy thy bounty and, Agni, by thy grace be rich in heroes.

Transliteration

uta tyā me havamā jagmyātaṁ nāsatyā dhībhiryuvamaṅga viprā | atriṁ na mahastamaso'mumuktaṁ tūrvataṁ narā duritādabhīke ||

Translation

Come also to my call, O ye Nasatyas, yea, verily, through my prayers, ye Holy Sages. As from great darkness ye delivered Atri, protect us, Chiefs, from danger in the conflict.

ते नो रायो द्युमतो वाजवतो दातारो भूत नृवतः पुरुक्षोः। दशस्यन्तो दिव्याः पार्थिवासो गोजाता अप्या मृळता च देवाः॥

Transliteration

te no rāyo dyumato vājavato dātāro bhūta nṛvataḥ purukṣoḥ | daśasyanto divyāḥ pārthivāso gojātā apyā mṛḻatā ca devāḥ ||

Translation

O Gods, bestow upon us riches, splendid with strength and heroes, bringing food in plenty. Be gracious, helpful Gods of earth, of heaven, born of the Cow, and dwellers in the waters.

ते नो रुद्रः सरस्वती सजोषा मीळ्हुष्मन्तो विष्णुर्मृळन्तु वायुः। ऋभुक्षा वाजो दैव्यो विधाता पर्जन्यावाता पिप्यतामिषं नः॥

Transliteration

te no rudraḥ sarasvatī sajoṣā mīḻhuṣmanto viṣṇurmṛḻantu vāyuḥ | ṛbhukṣā vājo daivyo vidhātā parjanyāvātā pipyatāmiṣaṁ naḥ ||

Translation

May Rudra and Sarasvati, accordant, Visnu and Vayu, pour down gifts and bless us; Rbhuksan, Vaja, and divine Vidhatar, Parjanya, Vata make our food abundant.

Transliteration

uta sya devaḥ savitā bhago no'pāṁ napādavatu dānu papriḥ | tvaṣṭā devebhirjanibhiḥ sajoṣā dyaurdevebhiḥ pṛthivī samudraiḥ ||

Translation

May this God Savitar, the Lord, the Offspring of Waters, pouring down his dew be gracious, And, with the Gods and Dames accordant, Tvastar; Dyaus with the Gods and Prthivi with oceans.

Transliteration

uta no'hirbudhnyaḥ śṛṇotvaja ekapātpṛthivī samudraḥ | viśve devā ṛtāvṛdho huvānāḥ stutā mantrāḥ kaviśastā avantu ||

Translation

May Aja-Ekapad and Ahibudhnya, and Earth and Ocean hear our invocation; All Gods who strengthen Law, invoked and lauded, and holy texts uttered by sages, help us.

एवा नपातो मम तस्य धीभिर्भरद्वाजा अभ्यर्चन्त्यर्कैः। ग्ना हुतासो वसवोऽधृष्टा विश्वे स्तुतासो भूता यजत्राः॥

Transliteration

evā napāto mama tasya dhībhirbharadvājā abhyarcantyarkaiḥ | gnā hutāso vasavo'dhṛṣṭā viśve stutāso bhūtā yajatrāḥ ||

Translation

So with my thoughts and hymns of praise the children of Bharadvaja sing aloud to please you. The Dames invoked, and the resistless Vasus, and all ye Holy Ones have been exalted.
