सुत इत्त्वं निमिश्ल इन्द्र सोमे स्तोमे ब्रह्मणि शस्यमान उक्थे। यद्वा युक्ताभ्यां मघवन्हरिभ्यां बिभ्रद्वज्रं बाह्वोरिन्द्र यासि॥

Transliteration

suta ittvaṁ nimiśla indra some stome brahmaṇi śasyamāna ukthe | yadvā yuktābhyāṁ maghavanharibhyāṁ bibhradvajraṁ bāhvorindra yāsi ||

Translation

THOU art attached to pressed-out Soma, Indra, at laud, at prayer, and when the hymn is chanted; Or when with yoked Bays, Maghavan, thou comest, O Indra, bearing in thine arms the thunder.

यद्वा दिवि पार्ये सुष्विमिन्द्र वृत्रहत्येऽवसि शूरसातौ। यद्वा दक्षस्य बिभ्युषो अबिभ्यदरन्धयः शर्धत इन्द्र दस्यून्॥

Transliteration

yadvā divi pārye suṣvimindra vṛtrahatye'vasi śūrasātau | yadvā dakṣasya bibhyuṣo abibhyadarandhayaḥ śardhata indra dasyūn ||

Translation

Or when on that decisive day thou holpest the presser of the juice at Vrtra's slaughter; Or when thou, while the strong one feared, undaunted, gavest to death, Indra, the daring Dasyus.

पाता सुतमिन्द्रो अस्तु सोमं प्रणेनीरुग्रो जरितारमूती। कर्ता वीराय सुष्वय उ लोकं दाता वसु स्तुवते कीरये चित्॥

Transliteration

pātā sutamindro astu somaṁ praṇenīrugro jaritāramūtī | kartā vīrāya suṣvaya u lokaṁ dātā vasu stuvate kīraye cit ||

Translation

Let Indra drink the pressed-out Soma, Helper and mighty Guide of him who sings his praises. He gives the hero room who pours oblations, and treasure even to the lowly singer.

गन्तेयान्ति सवना हरिभ्यां बभ्रिर्वज्रं पपिः सोमं ददिर्गाः। कर्ता वीरं नर्यं सर्ववीरं श्रोता हवं गृणतः स्तोमवाहाः॥

Transliteration

ganteyānti savanā haribhyāṁ babhrirvajraṁ papiḥ somaṁ dadirgāḥ | kartā vīraṁ naryaṁ sarvavīraṁ śrotā havaṁ gṛṇataḥ stomavāhāḥ ||

Translation

E'en humble rites with his Bay steeds he visits: he wields the bolt, drinks Soma, gives us cattle. He makes the valiant rich in store of heroes, accepts our praise and hears the singer's calling.

अस्मै वयं यद्वावान तद्विविष्म इन्द्राय यो नः प्रदिवो अपस्कः। सुते सोमे स्तुमसि शंसदुक्थेन्द्राय ब्रह्म वर्धनं यथासत्॥

Transliteration

asmai vayaṁ yadvāvāna tadviviṣma indrāya yo naḥ pradivo apaskaḥ | sute some stumasi śaṁsadukthendrāya brahma vardhanaṁ yathāsat ||

Translation

What he hath longed for we have brought to Indra, who from the days of old hath done us service. While Soma flows we will sing hymn, and laud him, so that our prayer may streng. then Indra's vigour.

ब्रह्माणि हि चकृषे वर्धनानि तावत्त इन्द्र मतिभिर्विविष्मः। सुते सोमे सुतपाः शंतमानि राण्ड्या क्रियास्म वक्षणानि यज्ञैः॥

Transliteration

brahmāṇi hi cakṛṣe vardhanāni tāvatta indra matibhirviviṣmaḥ | sute some sutapāḥ śaṁtamāni rāṇḍyā kriyāsma vakṣaṇāni yajñaiḥ ||

Translation

Thou hast made prayer the means of thine exalting, therefore we wait on thee with hymns, O Indra. May we, by the pressed Soma, Somadrinker! bring thee, with sacrifice, blissful sweet refreshment.

स नो बोधि पुरोळाशं रराणः पिबा तु सोमं गोऋजीकमिन्द्र। एदं बर्हिर्यजमानस्य सीदोरुं कृधि त्वायत उ लोकम्॥

Transliteration

sa no bodhi puroḻāśaṁ rarāṇaḥ pibā tu somaṁ goṛjīkamindra | edaṁ barhiryajamānasya sīdoruṁ kṛdhi tvāyata u lokam ||

Translation

Mark well our sacrificial cake, delighted Indra, drink Soma and the milk commingled. Here on the sacrificer's grass be seated: give ample room to thy devoted servant.

स मन्दस्वा ह्यनु जोषमुग्र प्र त्वा यज्ञास इमे अश्नुवन्तु। प्रेमे हवासः पुरुहूतमस्मे आ त्वेयं धीरवस इन्द्र यम्याः॥

Transliteration

sa mandasvā hyanu joṣamugra pra tvā yajñāsa ime aśnuvantu | preme havāsaḥ puruhūtamasme ā tveyaṁ dhīravasa indra yamyāḥ ||

Translation

O Mighty One, be joyful as thou willest. Let these our sacrifices reach and find thee; And may this hymn and these our invocations turn thee, whom many men invoke, to help us.

तं वः सखायः सं यथा सुतेषु सोमेभिरीं पृणता भोजमिन्द्रम्। कुवित्तस्मा असति नो भराय न सुष्विमिन्द्रोऽवसे मृधाति॥

Transliteration

taṁ vaḥ sakhāyaḥ saṁ yathā suteṣu somebhirīṁ pṛṇatā bhojamindram | kuvittasmā asati no bharāya na suṣvimindro'vase mṛdhāti ||

Translation

Friends, when thejuices flow, replenish duly your own, your bounteous Indra with the Soma. Will it not aid him to support us? Indra. spares him who sheds the juice to win his favour.

एवेदिन्द्रः सुते अस्तावि सोमे भरद्वाजेषु क्षयदिन्मघोनः। असद्यथा जरित्र उत सूरिरिन्द्रो रायो विश्ववारस्य दाता॥

Transliteration

evedindraḥ sute astāvi some bharadvājeṣu kṣayadinmaghonaḥ | asadyathā jaritra uta sūririndro rāyo viśvavārasya dātā ||

Translation

While Soma flowed, thus Indra hath been lauded, Ruler of nobles, mid the Bharadvajas, That Indra may become the singer's patron and give him wealth in every kind of treasure.
