इन्द्राग्नी यमवथ उभा वाजेषु मर्त्यम्। दृळ्हा चित्स प्र भेदति द्युम्ना वाणीरिव त्रितः॥

Transliteration

indrāgnī yamavatha ubhā vājeṣu martyam | dṛḻhā citsa pra bhedati dyumnā vāṇīriva tritaḥ ||

Translation

THE mortal man whom ye, the Twain, Indra and Agni, help in fight, Breaks through e'en strongly-guarded wealth as Trta burst his way through reeds.

या पृतनासु दुष्टरा या वाजेषु श्रवाय्या। या पञ्च चर्षणीरभीन्द्राग्नी ता हवामहे॥

Transliteration

yā pṛtanāsu duṣṭarā yā vājeṣu śravāyyā | yā pañca carṣaṇīrabhīndrāgnī tā havāmahe ||

Translation

The Twain invincible in war, worthy to be renowned in frays, Lords of the Fivefold. People, these, Indra and Agni, we invoke.

तयोरिदमवच्छवस्तिग्मा दिद्युन्मघोनोः। प्रति द्रुणा गभस्त्योर्गवां वृत्रघ्न एषते॥

Transliteration

tayoridamavacchavastigmā didyunmaghonoḥ | prati druṇā gabhastyorgavāṁ vṛtraghna eṣate ||

Translation

Impetuous is their strength, and keen the lightning of the mighty Pair, Which from their arms speeds with the car to Vrtra's slayer for the kine.

ता वामेषे रथानामिन्द्राग्नी हवामहे। पती तुरस्य राधसो विद्वांसा गिर्वणस्तमा॥

Transliteration

tā vāmeṣe rathānāmindrāgnī havāmahe | patī turasya rādhaso vidvāṁsā girvaṇastamā ||

Translation

Indra and Agni, we invoke you both, as such, to send your cars: Lords of quick-coming bounty, ye who know, chief lovers of the song.

ता वृधन्तावनु द्यून्मर्ताय देवावदभा। अर्हन्ता चित्पुरो दधेंऽशेव देवावर्वते॥

Transliteration

tā vṛdhantāvanu dyūnmartāya devāvadabhā | arhantā citpuro dadheṁ'śeva devāvarvate ||

Translation

These who give increase day by day, Gods without guile for mortal man, Worthy themselves, I honour most, Two Gods as partners, for my horse.

एवेन्द्राग्निभ्यामहावि हव्यं शूष्यं घृतं न पूतमद्रिभिः। ता सूरिषु श्रवो बृहद्रयिं गृणत्सु दिधृतमिषं गृणत्सु दिधृतम्॥

Transliteration

evendrāgnibhyāmahāvi havyaṁ śūṣyaṁ ghṛtaṁ na pūtamadribhiḥ | tā sūriṣu śravo bṛhadrayiṁ gṛṇatsu didhṛtamiṣaṁ gṛṇatsu didhṛtam ||

Translation

The strength-bestowing offering thus to Indra-Agni hath been paid, as butter, purified by stones. Deal to our princes high renown, deal wealth to those who sing your praise, deal food to those who sing your praise.
