आ यज्ञैर्देव मर्त्य इत्था तव्यांसमूतये। अग्निं कृते स्वध्वरे पूरुरीळीतावसे॥

Transliteration

ā yajñairdeva martya itthā tavyāṁsamūtaye | agniṁ kṛte svadhvare pūrurīḻītāvase ||

Translation

GOD, may a mortal call the Strong hither, with solemn rites, to aid, A man call Agni to protect when sacrifice is well prepared.

अस्य हि स्वयशस्तर आसा विधर्मन्मन्यसे। तं नाकं चित्रशोचिषं मन्द्रं परो मनीषया॥

Transliteration

asya hi svayaśastara āsā vidharmanmanyase | taṁ nākaṁ citraśociṣaṁ mandraṁ paro manīṣayā ||

Translation

Near him thou seemest mightier still in native glory, set to hold Apart yon flame-hued vault of heaven, lovely beyond the thought of man.

अस्य वासा उ अर्चिषा य आयुक्त तुजा गिरा। दिवो न यस्य रेतसा बृहच्छोचन्त्यर्चयः॥

Transliteration

asya vāsā u arciṣā ya āyukta tujā girā | divo na yasya retasā bṛhacchocantyarcayaḥ ||

Translation

Yea, this is by the light of him whom powerful siong hath bound to act, Whose bearns of splendour flash on high as though they sprang from heavenly seed.

अस्य क्रत्वा विचेतसो दस्मस्य वसु रथ आ। अधा विश्वासु हव्योऽग्निर्विक्षु प्र शस्यते॥

Transliteration

asya kratvā vicetaso dasmasya vasu ratha ā | adhā viśvāsu havyo'gnirvikṣu pra śasyate ||

Translation

Wealth loads the Wonder-Worker's car through his, the very wise One's power. Then, meet to be invoked among all tribes, is Agni ghorified.

नू न इद्धि वार्यमासा सचन्त सूरयः। ऊर्जो नपादभिष्टये पाहि शग्धि स्वस्तय उतैधि पृत्सु नो वृधे॥

Transliteration

nū na iddhi vāryamāsā sacanta sūrayaḥ | ūrjo napādabhiṣṭaye pāhi śagdhi svastaya utaidhi pṛtsu no vṛdhe ||

Translation

Now, too, the princes shall obtain excellent riches by our lips. Protect us for our welfare: lend thy succour, O thou Son of Strength. Be near in fight to prosper us.
