त्वामग्ने मनीषिणः सम्राजं चर्षणीनाम्। देवं मर्तास इन्धते समध्वरे॥

Transliteration

tvāmagne manīṣiṇaḥ samrājaṁ carṣaṇīnām | devaṁ martāsa indhate samadhvare ||

Translation

THEE Agni, God, Imperial Lord of all mankind, do mortal men With understanding kindle at thesacrifice.

त्वां यज्ञेष्वृत्विजमग्ने होतारमीळते। गोपा ऋतस्य दीदिहि स्वे दमे॥

Transliteration

tvāṁ yajñeṣvṛtvijamagne hotāramīḻate | gopā ṛtasya dīdihi sve dame ||

Translation

They laud thee in their solemn rites, Agni, as Minister and Priest, Shine forth in thine own home as guardian of the Law.

स घा यस्ते ददाशति समिधा जातवेदसे। सो अग्ने धत्ते सुवीर्यं स पुष्यति॥

Transliteration

sa ghā yaste dadāśati samidhā jātavedase | so agne dhatte suvīryaṁ sa puṣyati ||

Translation

He, verily, who honours thee with fuel, Knower of all life, He, Agni! wins heroic might, he prospers well.

स केतुरध्वराणामग्निर्देवेभिरा गमत्। अञ्जानः सप्त होतृभिर्हविष्मते॥

Transliteration

sa keturadhvarāṇāmagnirdevebhirā gamat | añjānaḥ sapta hotṛbhirhaviṣmate ||

Translation

Ensign of sacrifices, he, Agni, with Gods is come to us, Decked by the seven priests, to him who bringeth gifts.

प्र होत्रे पूर्व्यं वचोऽग्नये भरता बृहत्। विपां ज्योतींषि बिभ्रते न वेधसे॥

Transliteration

pra hotre pūrvyaṁ vaco'gnaye bharatā bṛhat | vipāṁ jyotīṁṣi bibhrate na vedhase ||

Translation

ToAgni, the Invoking Priest, offer your best, your lofty speech, To him Ordainer-like who brings the light of songs.

अग्निं वर्धन्तु नो गिरो यतो जायत उक्थ्यः। महे वाजाय द्रविणाय दर्शतः॥

Transliteration

agniṁ vardhantu no giro yato jāyata ukthyaḥ | mahe vājāya draviṇāya darśataḥ ||

Translation

Let these our hymns make Agni grow, whence, meet for laud, he springs to life, To mighty strength and great possession, fair to see.

Best Sacrificer, bring the Gods, O Agni, to the pious man: A joyful Priest, thy splendour drive our foes afar

स नः पावक दीदिहि द्युमदस्मे सुवीर्यम्। भवा स्तोतृभ्यो अन्तमः स्वस्तये॥

Transliteration

sa naḥ pāvaka dīdihi dyumadasme suvīryam | bhavā stotṛbhyo antamaḥ svastaye ||

Translation

As such, O Purifier, shine on us heroic glorious might: Be nearest Friend to those who laud thee, for their weal.

तं त्वा विप्रा विपन्यवो जागृवांसः समिन्धते। हव्यवाहममर्त्यं सहोवृधम्॥

Transliteration

taṁ tvā viprā vipanyavo jāgṛvāṁsaḥ samindhate | havyavāhamamartyaṁ sahovṛdham ||

Translation

So, wakeful, versed in sacred hymns, the holy singers kindly thee. Oblation-bearer, deathless, cherisher of strength.
