प्रदक्षिणिदभि गृणन्ति कारवो वयो वदन्त ऋतुथा शकुन्तयः। उभे वाचौ वदति सामगा इव गायत्रं च त्रैष्टुभं चानु राजति॥

Transliteration

pradakṣiṇidabhi gṛṇanti kāravo vayo vadanta ṛtuthā śakuntayaḥ | ubhe vācau vadati sāmagā iva gāyatraṁ ca traiṣṭubhaṁ cānu rājati ||

Translation

HERE on the right sing forth chanters of hymns of praise, even the winged birds that in due season speak. He, like: a Sama-chanter utters both the notes, skilled in the mode of Trstup and of Gayatri.

उद्गातेव शकुने साम गायसि ब्रह्मपुत्र इव सवनेषु शंससि। वृषेव वाजी शिशुमतीरपीत्या सर्वतो नः शकुने भद्रमा वद विश्वतो नः शकुने पुण्यमा वद॥

Transliteration

udgāteva śakune sāma gāyasi brahmaputra iva savaneṣu śaṁsasi | vṛṣeva vājī śiśumatīrapītyā sarvato naḥ śakune bhadramā vada viśvato naḥ śakune puṇyamā vada ||

Translation

Thou like the chanter-priest chantest the Sama, Bird; thou singest at libations like a Brahman's son. Even as a vigorous horse when he comes near the mare, announce to us good forturue, Bird, on every side, proclaim in all directions happy luck, O Bird.

आवदँस्त्वं शकुने भद्रमा वद तूष्णीमासीनः सुमतिं चिकिद्धि नः। यदुत्पतन्वदसि कर्करिर्यथा बृहद्वदेम विदथे सुवीराः॥

Transliteration

āvadastvaṁ śakune bhadramā vada tūṣṇīmāsīnaḥ sumatiṁ cikiddhi naḥ | yadutpatanvadasi karkariryathā bṛhadvadema vidathe suvīrāḥ ||

Translation

When singing here, O Bird. announce good luck to us, and when thou sittest still think on us with kind thoughts. When flying off thou singest thou art like a lute. With brave sons in assembly may we speak aloud. [03-000] RIG VEDA - BOOK THE THIRD
