समिद्धो अग्न आ वह देवाँ अद्य यतस्रुचे। तन्तुं तनुष्व पूर्व्यं सुतसोमाय दाशुषे॥

Transliteration

samiddho agna ā vaha devā adya yatasruce | tantuṁ tanuṣva pūrvyaṁ sutasomāya dāśuṣe ||

Translation

KINDLED, bring, Agni, Gods to-day for him who lifts the ladle up. Spin out the ancient thread for him who sheds, with gifts, the Soma juice.

Transliteration

ghṛtavantamupa māsi madhumantaṁ tanūnapāt | yajñaṁ viprasya māvataḥ śaśamānasya dāśuṣaḥ ||

Translation

Thou dealest forth, Tanunapat, sweet sacrifice enriched with oil, Brought by a singer such as I who offers gifts and toils for thee.

शुचिः पावको अद्भुतो मध्वा यज्ञं मिमिक्षति। नराशंसस्त्रिरा दिवो देवो देवेषु यज्ञियः॥

Transliteration

śuciḥ pāvako adbhuto madhvā yajñaṁ mimikṣati | narāśaṁsastrirā divo devo deveṣu yajñiyaḥ ||

Translation

He wondrous, sanctifying, bright, sprinkles the sacrifice with mead, Thrice, Narasamsa from the heavens, a God mid Gods adorable.

Transliteration

īḻito agna ā vahendraṁ citramiha priyam | iyaṁ hi tvā matirmamācchā sujihva vacyate ||

Translation

Agni, besought, bring hitherward Indra the Friend, the Wonderful, For this my hymn of praise, O sweet of tongue, is chanted forth to thee.

स्तृणानासो यतस्रुचो बर्हिर्यज्ञे स्वध्वरे। वृञ्जे देवव्यचस्तममिन्द्राय शर्म सप्रथः॥

Transliteration

stṛṇānāso yatasruco barhiryajñe svadhvare | vṛñje devavyacastamamindrāya śarma saprathaḥ ||

Translation

The ladle-holders strew trimmed grass at this well-ordered sacrifice; A home for Indra is adorned, wide, fittest to receive the Gods.

Transliteration

vi śrayantāmṛtāvṛdhaḥ prayai devebhyo mahīḥ | pāvakāsaḥ puruspṛho dvāro devīrasaścataḥ ||

Translation

Thrown open be the Doors Divine, unfailing, that assist the rite, High, purifying, much-desired, so that the Gods may enter in.

Transliteration

ā bhandamāne upāke naktoṣāsā supeśasā | yahvī ṛtasya mātarā sīdatāṁ barhirā sumat ||

Translation

May Night and Morning, hymned with lauds, united, fair to look upon, Strong Mothers of the sacrifice, seat them together on the grass.

Transliteration

mandrajihvā jugurvaṇī hotārā daivyā kavī | yajñaṁ no yakṣatāmimaṁ sidhramadya divispṛśam ||

Translation

May the two Priests Divine, the sage, the sweet-voiced lovers of the hymn, Complete this sacrifice of ours, effectual, reaching heaven to-day.

Let Hotri pure, set amang Gods, amid the Maruts Bhirati, Ila, Sarasvati, Mahi, rest on the grass, adorable.

तन्नस्तुरीपमद्भुतं पुरु वारं पुरु त्मना। त्वष्टा पोषाय वि ष्यतु राये नाभा नो अस्मयुः॥

Transliteration

tannasturīpamadbhutaṁ puru vāraṁ puru tmanā | tvaṣṭā poṣāya vi ṣyatu rāye nābhā no asmayuḥ ||

Translation

May Tvastar send us genial dew abundant, wondrous, rich in gifts, For increase and for growth of wealth, Tvastar our kinsman and our Friend.

अवसृजन्नुप त्मना देवान्यक्षि वनस्पते। अग्निर्हव्या सुषूदति देवो देवेषु मेधिरः॥

Transliteration

avasṛjannupa tmanā devānyakṣi vanaspate | agnirhavyā suṣūdati devo deveṣu medhiraḥ ||

Translation

Vanaspati, give forth, thyself, and call the Gods to sacrifice. May Agni, God intelligent, speed our oblation to the Gods.

Transliteration

pūṣaṇvate marutvate viśvadevāya vāyave | svāhā gāyatravepase havyamindrāya kartana ||

Translation

To Vayu joined with Pusan, with the Maruts, and the host of Gods, To Indra who inspires the hymn cry Glory! and present the gift.

स्वाहाकृतान्या गह्युप हव्यानि वीतये। इन्द्रा गहि श्रुधी हवं त्वां हवन्ते अध्वरे॥

Transliteration

svāhākṛtānyā gahyupa havyāni vītaye | indrā gahi śrudhī havaṁ tvāṁ havante adhvare ||

Translation

Come hither to enjoy the gifts prepared with cry of Glory! Come, O Indra, hear their calling; they invite thee to the sacrifice.
