वया इदग्ने अग्नयस्ते अन्ये त्वे विश्वे अमृता मादयन्ते। वैश्वानर नाभिरसि क्षितीनां स्थूणेव जनाँ उपमिद्ययन्थ॥

Transliteration

vayā idagne agnayaste anye tve viśve amṛtā mādayante | vaiśvānara nābhirasi kṣitīnāṁ sthūṇeva janā upamidyayantha ||

Translation

THE other fires are, verily, thy branches; the Immortals all rejoice in thee, O Agni. Centre art thou, Vaigvdnara, of the people, sustaining men like a deep-founded pillar.

मूर्धा दिवो नाभिरग्निः पृथिव्या अथाभवदरती रोदस्योः। तं त्वा देवासोऽजनयन्त देवं वैश्वानर ज्योतिरिदार्याय॥

Transliteration

mūrdhā divo nābhiragniḥ pṛthivyā athābhavadaratī rodasyoḥ | taṁ tvā devāso'janayanta devaṁ vaiśvānara jyotiridāryāya ||

Translation

The forehead of the sky, earth's centre, Agni became the messenger of earth and heaven. Vaisvanara, the Deities produced thee, a God, to be a light unto the Arya.

आ सूर्ये न रश्मयो ध्रुवासो वैश्वानरे दधिरेऽग्ना वसूनि। या पर्वतेष्वोषधीष्वप्सु या मानुषेष्वसि तस्य राजा॥

Transliteration

ā sūrye na raśmayo dhruvāso vaiśvānare dadhire'gnā vasūni | yā parvateṣvoṣadhīṣvapsu yā mānuṣeṣvasi tasya rājā ||

Translation

As in the Sun firm rays are set for ever, treasures are in Vaisvanara, in Agni. Of all the riches in the hills, the waters, the herbs, among mankind, thou art the Sovran.

बृहती इव सूनवे रोदसी गिरो होता मनुष्यो न दक्षः। स्वर्वते सत्यशुष्माय पूर्वीर्वैश्वानराय नृतमाय यह्वीः॥

Transliteration

bṛhatī iva sūnave rodasī giro hotā manuṣyo na dakṣaḥ | svarvate satyaśuṣmāya pūrvīrvaiśvānarāya nṛtamāya yahvīḥ ||

Translation

As the great World-halves, so are their Son's praises; skilled, as a man, to act, is he the Herald. Vaisvanara, celestial, truly mighty, most manly One, hath many a youthful consort.

दिवश्चित्ते बृहतो जातवेदो वैश्वानर प्र रिरिचे महित्वम्। राजा कृष्टीनामसि मानुषीणां युधा देवेभ्यो वरिवश्चकर्थ॥

Transliteration

divaścitte bṛhato jātavedo vaiśvānara pra ririce mahitvam | rājā kṛṣṭīnāmasi mānuṣīṇāṁ yudhā devebhyo varivaścakartha ||

Translation

Even the lofty heaven, O Jatavedas Vaisvanara, hath not attained thy greatness. Thou art the King of lands where men are settled, thou hast brought comfort to the Gods in battle.

प्र नू महित्वं वृषभस्य वोचं यं पूरवो वृत्रहणं सचन्ते। वैश्वानरो दस्युमग्निर्जघन्वाँ अधूनोत्काष्ठा अव शम्बरं भेत्॥

Transliteration

pra nū mahitvaṁ vṛṣabhasya vocaṁ yaṁ pūravo vṛtrahaṇaṁ sacante | vaiśvānaro dasyumagnirjaghanvā adhūnotkāṣṭhā ava śambaraṁ bhet ||

Translation

Now will I tell the greatness of the Hero whom Prarti's sons follow as Vrtra's slayer: Agni Vaisvanara struck down the Dasyu, cleave Sambara through and shattered down his fences.

वैश्वानरो महिम्ना विश्वकृष्टिर्भरद्वाजेषु यजतो विभावा। शातवनेये शतिनीभिरग्निः पुरुणीथे जरते सूनृतावान्॥

Transliteration

vaiśvānaro mahimnā viśvakṛṣṭirbharadvājeṣu yajato vibhāvā | śātavaneye śatinībhiragniḥ puruṇīthe jarate sūnṛtāvān ||

Translation

Vaisvanara, dwelling by his might with all men, far-shining, holy mid the Bharadvajas, Is lauded, excellent, with hundred praises by Purunitha, son of Satavani.
