सूक्त १०४

असावि सोमः पुरुहूत तुभ्यं हरिभ्यां यज्ञमुप याहि तूयम्। तुभ्यं गिरो विप्रवीरा इयाना दधन्विर इन्द्र पिबा सुतस्य॥

asāvi somaḥ puruhūta tubhyaṁ haribhyāṁ yajñamupa yāhi tūyam | tubhyaṁ giro vipravīrā iyānā dadhanvira indra pibā sutasya ||

Soma hath flowed for thee, Invoked of mat Speed to our sacrifice with both thy Coursers. To thee have streameld the songs or mighty singers, imploring, Indra, drink of our libation.

अप्सु धूतस्य हरिवः पिबेह नृभिः सुतस्य जठरं पृणस्व। मिमिक्षुर्यमद्रय इन्द्र तुभ्यं तेभिर्वर्धस्व मदमुक्थवाहः॥

apsu dhūtasya harivaḥ pibeha nṛbhiḥ sutasya jaṭharaṁ pṛṇasva | mimikṣuryamadraya indra tubhyaṁ tebhirvardhasva madamukthavāhaḥ ||

Drink of the juice which men have washed in waters, and fill thee full, O Lord of Tawny Horses. O Indra, hearer of the laud, with Soma which stones have mixed for thee enhance thy rapture.

प्रोग्रां पीतिं वृष्ण इयर्मि सत्यां प्रयै सुतस्य हर्यश्व तुभ्यम्। इन्द्र धेनाभिरिह मादयस्व धीभिर्विश्वाभिः शच्या गृणानः॥

progrāṁ pītiṁ vṛṣṇa iyarmi satyāṁ prayai sutasya haryaśva tubhyam | indra dhenābhiriha mādayasva dhībhirviśvābhiḥ śacyā gṛṇānaḥ ||

To make thee start, a strong true draught I offer to thee, the Bull, O thou whom Bay Steeds carry. Here take delight, O Indra, in our voices while thou art hymned with power and all our spirit.

ऊती शचीवस्तव वीर्येण वयो दधाना उशिज ऋतज्ञाः। प्रजावदिन्द्र मनुषो दुरोणे तस्थुर्गृणन्तः सधमाद्यासः॥

ūtī śacīvastava vīryeṇa vayo dadhānā uśija ṛtajñāḥ | prajāvadindra manuṣo duroṇe tasthurgṛṇantaḥ sadhamādyāsaḥ ||

O Mighty Indra, through thine aid, thy prowess, obtaining life, zealous, and skilled in Order, Men in the house who share the sacred banquet stand singing praise that brings them store of children.

प्रणीतिभिष्टे हर्यश्व सुष्टोः सुषुम्नस्य पुरुरुचो जनासः। मंहिष्ठामूतिं वितिरे दधानाः स्तोतार इन्द्र तव सूनृताभिः॥

praṇītibhiṣṭe haryaśva suṣṭoḥ suṣumnasya pururuco janāsaḥ | maṁhiṣṭhāmūtiṁ vitire dadhānāḥ stotāra indra tava sūnṛtābhiḥ ||

Through thy directions, Lord of Tawny Coursers, thine who art firm, splendid, and blest, the people Obtain most liberal aid for their salvation, and praise thee, Indra, through thine excellencies.

उप ब्रह्माणि हरिवो हरिभ्यां सोमस्य याहि पीतये सुतस्य। इन्द्र त्वा यज्ञः क्षममाणमानड्दाश्वाँ अस्यध्वरस्य प्रकेतः॥

upa brahmāṇi harivo haribhyāṁ somasya yāhi pītaye sutasya | indra tvā yajñaḥ kṣamamāṇamānaḍdāśvā asyadhvarasya praketaḥ ||

Lord of the Bays, come with thy two Bay Horses, come to our prayers, to drink the juice of Soma. To thee comes sacrifice which thou acceptest: thou, skilled in holy rites, art he who giveth.

सहस्रवाजमभिमातिषाहं सुतेरणं मघवानं सुवृक्तिम्। उप भूषन्ति गिरो अप्रतीतमिन्द्रं नमस्या जरितुः पनन्त॥

sahasravājamabhimātiṣāhaṁ suteraṇaṁ maghavānaṁ suvṛktim | upa bhūṣanti giro apratītamindraṁ namasyā jarituḥ pananta ||

Him of a thousand powers, subduing foemen, Maghavan praised with hymns and pleased with Soma,- Even him our songs approach, resistless Indra: the adorations of the singer laud him.

सप्तापो देवीः सुरणा अमृक्ता याभिः सिन्धुमतर इन्द्र पूर्भित्। नवतिं स्रोत्या नव च स्रवन्तीर्देवेभ्यो गातुं मनुषे च विन्दः॥

saptāpo devīḥ suraṇā amṛktā yābhiḥ sindhumatara indra pūrbhit | navatiṁ srotyā nava ca sravantīrdevebhyo gātuṁ manuṣe ca vindaḥ ||

The way to bliss for Gods and man thou foundest, Indra, seven lovely floods, divine, untroubled, Wherewith thou, rending forts, didst move the ocean, and nine-and-ninety flowing streams of water.

अपो महीरभिशस्तेरमुञ्चोऽजागरास्वधि देव एकः। इन्द्र यास्त्वं वृत्रतूर्ये चकर्थ ताभिर्विश्वायुस्तन्वं पुपुष्याः॥

apo mahīrabhiśasteramuñco'jāgarāsvadhi deva ekaḥ | indra yāstvaṁ vṛtratūrye cakartha tābhirviśvāyustanvaṁ pupuṣyāḥ ||

Thou from the curse didst free the mighty Waters, and as their only God didst watch and guard them. O Indra, cherish evermore thy body with those which thou hast won in quelling Vrtra.

वीरेण्यः क्रतुरिन्द्रः सुशस्तिरुतापि धेना पुरुहूतमीट्टे। आर्दयद्वृत्रमकृणोदु लोकं ससाहे शक्रः पृतना अभिष्टिः॥

vīreṇyaḥ kraturindraḥ suśastirutāpi dhenā puruhūtamīṭṭe | ārdayadvṛtramakṛṇodu lokaṁ sasāhe śakraḥ pṛtanā abhiṣṭiḥ ||

Heroic power and noble praise is Indra yea, the song worships him invoked of many. Vrtra he quelled, and gave men room and freedom: gakra, victorious, hath conquered armies.

शुनं हुवेम मघवानमिन्द्रमस्मिन्भरे नृतमं वाजसातौ। शृण्वन्तमुग्रमूतये समत्सु घ्नन्तं वृत्राणि संजितं धनानाम्॥

śunaṁ huvema maghavānamindramasminbhare nṛtamaṁ vājasātau | śṛṇvantamugramūtaye samatsu ghnantaṁ vṛtrāṇi saṁjitaṁ dhanānām ||
