सूक्त १०

प्र स्वानासो रथा इवार्वन्तो न श्रवस्यवः। सोमासो राये अक्रमुः॥

pra svānāso rathā ivārvanto na śravasyavaḥ | somāso rāye akramuḥ ||

LIKE cars that thunder on their way, like coursers eager for renown, Have Soma-drops flowed forth for wealth.

हिन्वानासो रथा इव दधन्विरे गभस्त्योः। भरासः कारिणामिव॥

hinvānāso rathā iva dadhanvire gabhastyoḥ | bharāsaḥ kāriṇāmiva ||

Forth have they rushed from holding hands, like chariots that are urged to speed, Like joyful songs of singing-men.

राजानो न प्रशस्तिभिः सोमासो गोभिरञ्जते। यज्ञो न सप्त धातृभिः॥

rājāno na praśastibhiḥ somāso gobhirañjate | yajño na sapta dhātṛbhiḥ ||

The Somas deck themselves with milk, as Kings are graced with eulogies, And, with seven priests, the sacrifice.

परि सुवानास इन्दवो मदाय बर्हणा गिरा। सुता अर्षन्ति धारया॥

pari suvānāsa indavo madāya barhaṇā girā | sutā arṣanti dhārayā ||

Pressed for the gladdening draught, the drops flow forth abundantly with song, The Soma juices in a stream.

आपानासो विवस्वतो जनन्त उषसो भगम्। सूरा अण्वं वि तन्वते॥

āpānāso vivasvato jananta uṣaso bhagam | sūrā aṇvaṁ vi tanvate ||

Winning Vivasvan's glory and producing Morning's light, the Suns Pass through the openings of the cloth.

अप द्वारा मतीनां प्रत्ना ऋण्वन्ति कारवः। वृष्णो हरस आयवः॥

apa dvārā matīnāṁ pratnā ṛṇvanti kāravaḥ | vṛṣṇo harasa āyavaḥ ||

The singing-men of ancient time open the doors of sacred songs,- Men, for the mighty to accept.

समीचीनास आसते होतारः सप्तजामयः। पदमेकस्य पिप्रतः॥

samīcīnāsa āsate hotāraḥ saptajāmayaḥ | padamekasya piprataḥ ||

Combined in close society sit the seven priests, the brother-hood, Filling the station of the One.

नाभा नाभिं न आ ददे चक्षुश्चित्सूर्ये सचा। कवेरपत्यमा दुहे॥

nābhā nābhiṁ na ā dade cakṣuścitsūrye sacā | kaverapatyamā duhe ||

He gives us kinship with the Gods, and with the Sun unites our eye: The Sage's ofrspring hath appeared.

अभि प्रिया दिवस्पदमध्वर्युभिर्गुहा हितम्। सूरः पश्यति चक्षसा॥

abhi priyā divaspadamadhvaryubhirguhā hitam | sūraḥ paśyati cakṣasā ||

The Sun with his dear eye beholds that quarter of the heavens which priests Have placed within the sacred cell.
